Backup to Tape
The release of v9.1 welcomes a new data protection option, Backup to Tape. Now, you can easily transfer your data backups to tape for long-term storage of critical information. Even though modern businesses generally rely on disk-based backups or cloud-based backups, tape backups are still widely used due to their high reliability, cost-efficiency and low maintenance needs. Compared to disk-based solutions, tape storage is less susceptible to malware, hacking, and physical or electronic damage, ensuring a higher level of security and reliability.
With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can copy your backups to tape and then easily transport the tapes offsite for the purpose of long-term data retention and archiving. NAKIVO Backup & Replication ensures support for regular tape cartridges and can deploy both LTO tape libraries and stand-alone tape drives. What’s more, NAKIVO Backup & Replication allows you to control multiple tape libraries from a single pane of glass, simplifying your data protection management.
Linux Server Backup
The latest release of NAKIVO Backup & Replication takes its data protection capabilities to a whole new level. Apart from Windows Server Backup, you can now perform backup of your physical Linux machines, enabling protection of hybrid environments.
With NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1 Beta, you can perform backup of Linux Server workloads in application-aware mode using scripts, ensuring the consistency of application data. Moreover, NAKIVO Backup & Replication relies on proprietary change tracking technology to perform incremental Linux Server backups which saves you time and storage resources. On top of this, the Network Acceleration feature can increase backup speed even in busy LAN and WAN networks, while global deduplication and compression help significantly reduce storage space requirements.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1 Beta introduces an updated version of backup and replica verification, Instant Verification. To verify the recoverability of backups and replicas, you can enable Screenshot Verification or Boot Verification. The Screenshot Verification option can test-recover the VM right after job completion, make a screenshot of the booted OS, then discard that VM and send you an email report with the screenshot.
The Backup Verification approach can test the VM recoverability by checking whether hypervisor tools are running (VMware Tools or Hyper-V Integration Services) inside the guest OS. For this purpose, NAKIVO Backup & Replication can recover the VM once the job is complete, start the guest OS, and check availability of hypervisor tools by listening to the OS heartbeat. You can either see the results in the product’s interface or receive them via email – it’s as simple as that.
