Why Backup to Cloud with NAKIVO Backup & Replication
Direct Backups to Cloud
Use NAKIVO Backup & Replication to send backups and backup copies of your production workloads directly to a public cloud: Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure or Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage. After an initial full backup of your virtual, physical and cloud machines, you can create incremental backups to send only new data to the cloud. This way you minimize bandwidth usage, cut cloud storage costs and speed up backups. The backup to cloud feature in NAKIVO Backup & Replication allows you to store terabytes of backup data in the cloud and access it at any time and from anywhere.
Ransomware-Proof Backups
NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers built-in support of the S3 Object Lock functionality in Amazon S3. Use the feature to make your data immutable for any period of time and ensure reliable ransomware protection and recovery. Based on your storage needs, apply retention periods to Amazon S3 backup objects to prevent their deletion and modification. The retention periods cannot be shortened or lifted by anyone, not even by the root user. The functionality is enabled by the write-once-read-many (WORM) storage technology. Once enabled, S3 Object Lock prevents data encryption by cybercriminals and other forms of accidental data deletions or modifications.
Powerful Granular Recovery
You can instantly recover individual files and folders from backups located in the cloud. This means you don’t have to run a full-scale recovery of the entire machine each time you need to restore a single file. With up to 4,000 recovery points and advanced search functionality, you can easily locate the backup you need and launch point-in-time recoveries of the files you need to resume your workflow. You can also recover Exchange, Active Directory and Microsoft SQL Server objects to their original location or a different machine. The powerful granular recovery functionality in NAKIVO Backup & Replication allows you to save time and avoid costly disruptions to your operational processes.
Fast VM and Server Recovery
When a machine fails, you can choose to power on and run the VM/physical machines in mere seconds directly from the cloud. If the original VM location is unavailable, use Flash VM Boot to instantly run the VM in another location and resume your workflow within seconds. You can also near-instantly recover physical Windows and Linux servers/workstations from backups as VMware vSphere VMs with the P2V recovery feature. NAKIVO Backup & Replication creates application-aware backups by default, which allows you to ensure data consistency for Exchange, Active Directory, and Microsoft SQL Server, among others.
Storage Cost Savings
Perform incremental backups with NAKIVO Backup & Replication to reduce backup data size and save on cloud storage costs. When running a backup job, the solution copies only the blocks of data that have changed since the last backup. This results not only in storage space savings but also in much faster backups. To further decrease backup sizes, NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers three levels of compression for your backups: lower compression levels are faster with a smaller CPU load while maximal space savings are more resource-intensive. When it comes to performing recoveries, you can restore entire machines or individual items right from a compressed backup.
Advanced Bandwidth Management
Maintain optimal network performance with NAKIVO Backup & Replication even when running backup jobs to the cloud during business hours. The solution allows you to control the bandwidth usage of backup and recovery jobs to minimize the impact of data protection on core business activities. To achieve maximum network performance during business hours, apply bandwidth throttling rules at global and granular levels. For even greater control over your bandwidth, apply the rules on different schedules. Thus, your data protection activities will not interfere with your business activities. This feature is key to avoid network congestion, even if you operate within narrow bandwidth limits.
Automated Backup to Cloud
With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can easily automate backup to cloud to protect your large infrastructure. Rather than monitoring your environment for changes and adjusting backups accordingly, set policies and allow the solution to automatically update backup and replication jobs. The rules for the data protection policies can be based on VM name, tag, size, location, configuration, power state or any combination of these parameters. To further streamline your data protection activities and minimize the risk of error, use advanced scheduling for routine backup activities.
