Native Change Tracking with NAKIVO
Improved Performance
Incremental backup and replication workflows save only modified data blocks (increments), allowing you to boost workflow speed and save storage space. You need to perform a lengthy and resource-hungry full backup or replication only once. Then you can switch to faster and more efficient incremental workflows.
Instant Change Tracking
NAKIVO Backup & Replication relies on native change tracking technologies that automatically record all data changes to log files. This way, the solution can improve the speed of backup, replication and recovery by instantly identifying changed data blocks without scanning the entire machine.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication supports the following native technologies:
• Changed Block Tracking (CBT) for VMware vSphere
• Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) for Microsoft Hyper-V
• Changed Regions Tracking (CRT) for Nutanix AHV
Log Verification
Ensure that native change tracking technologies don’t overstate the amount of changed data for VMware vSphere VMs and Nutanix AHV VMs. For this, you can additionally run the NAKIVO Backup & Replication proprietary change tracking, which is more reliable but slowlier than using CBT or CRT alone.
Workflow Diversity
You can enable native change tracking for backup and replication workflows of VMware vSphere VMs and Microsoft Hyper-V VMs. You can also use native change tracking for Nutanix AHV VM backups. For other workloads NAKIVO Backup & Replication uses a proprietary method and scans VM disks, looking for changed data.
