NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.2 Beta Program Terms & Conditions

In seeking to improve NAKIVO Backup & Replication with every new version, NAKIVO relies on quality feedback from industry professionals. Try the software in your own environment and send your feedback to us. Participants of the v11.2 Beta Program can receive up to three Amazon eGift Cards.

By participating in this v11.2 Beta Program (the “Program”), you hereby agree to abide by General Program Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) available at www.nakivo.com/resources/releases/general-beta-terms/ and NAKIVO Privacy Policy available at https://www.nakivo.com/support/privacy-policy/ (the “Privacy Policy”). If you do not agree with the Terms, do not participate in the Program.

1. PROGRAM DURATION

Program duration: 2 weeks

2. ELIGIBLE PRODUCTS

The following product is eligible for the Program: NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.2 Beta .

3. ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS

Anyone aged 18 or over is eligible to participate in the Program. A single employee or representative per company may be eligible. Eligibility will be determined by NAKIVO at its sole discretion.

4. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

How to Claim Your Amazon eGift Card(s)

  • 1. Download v11.2 Beta and complete one or more of the test options below to earn Amazon eGift Cards.
    • Proceed with any of the test option(s) below for a $30 Amazon Gift Card.
    • Additionally, test VMware vSphere 9 Full Support to earn an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card. An additional $10 Amazon eGift Card if tested on a deployment other than a VMware Virtual Appliance (VA).
    • Additionally, test OAuth 2.0 Secure Access for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
    • Additionally, you can also test the Real-Time Replication for VMware update for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
  • 2. Create the support bundle clearly indicating the option(s) you chose to test and submit it to support@nakivo.com.
  • 3. Share your feedback by filling out a short survey.

    Important: Testing all four options (Any new feature + VMware vSphere 9 Full Support + OAuth 2.0 Secure Access + Real-Time Replication for VMware) will earn you a total of $120, plus an additional $10 if VMware vSphere 9 Full Support is tested on a non-VA deployment.

  • Test 1: Proxmox VE 9.0 Full Support

    Adding Proxmox VE Items to the Inventory

    1. 1. In the web interface, navigate to Settings > Inventory and click + to add a new item.
    2. 2. On the Platform tab, select Virtual and click Next.
    3. 3. On the Type tab, select the Proxmox VE host or cluster option and click Next.
    4. 4. On the Options tab, fill in all required fields, and specify the Type as either Proxmox VE Cluster or Standalone Proxmox VE host. Make sure it’s the latest Proxmox VE 9.0 version.
      • If you select Proxmox VE Cluster, make sure the cluster is successfully discovered and a Transporter is deployed in each cluster host in Nodes (Settings > Nodes).
      • If you select a Standalone Proxmox VE host, make sure the host is successfully discovered and a transporter is deployed for the host in Nodes (Settings > Nodes).
    5. 5. Click Finish to add the Proxmox VE host or cluster to the Inventory, along with VMs and VM Templates.

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Backup for Proxmox VE.
    2. 2. At the Source step, select one or more VM templates to back up by placing a check mark to the left.
    3. 3. Complete the Destination, Schedule and Options steps and then run the job.

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and then select Backup for Proxmox VE to open the backup wizard.
    2. 2. At the Source step, add one or two Proxmox VMs to back up by placing a check mark to the left of each VM.
    3. 3. Complete the backup job wizard, run the job, and make sure it is completed successfully.

    Instant VM recovery with Flash Boot

    1. 1. Head to Data Protection, and click Recover > Flash boot for Proxmox VE.
    2. 2. At the Backup step, select the VM backup you just created.
    3. 3. Complete the Destination, Schedule and Options steps and then run the job.
    4. 4. Verify the recovered VM is bootable.
    5. 5. Verify the integrity of the data within the VM and ensure that all files, configurations and applications are correctly displayed on the host.

    Proxmox VE VM replication from backups

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Replication for Proxmox VE to open the replication wizard.
    2. 2. At the Source step, select the Backup Repositories view and choose the VM backup you created earlier to replicate from.
    3. 3. Complete the wizard steps: Destination, Networks, Re-IP and Schedule/Retention.
    4. 4. Finally, set up the replication job Options and run the job.
    5. 5. Upon completion of the job, power on the Replica VM and check if it is bootable.

    Proxmox VE VM replication

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Replication for Proxmox VE to open the replication wizard.
    2. 2. At the Source step, select one or more VMs to replicate.
    3. 3. Complete the wizard steps: Destination, Networks, Re-IP and Schedule/Retention.
    4. 4. Finally, set up the replication job Options and run the job.
    5. 5. Upon completion of the job, power on the Replica VM and check if it is bootable.

    Test 2: VMware vSphere 9 Full Support

    Adding VMware vCenters and ESXi hosts

    1. 1. In the web interface, navigate to Settings > Inventory and click + to add a new item.
    2. 2. On the Platform tab, select Virtual and click Next.
    3. 3. On the Type tab, select the VMware vCenter or ESXi host option and click Next. Make sure it’s the latest vSphere 9 version.
    4. 4. On the Options tab, fill in all required fields.
    5. 5. Click Finish to add the VMware vCenter or ESXi host to the Inventory, along with VMs and VM Templates.

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Backup for VMware.
    2. 2. At the Source step, select the VMs & Templates view and choose one or more VM templates to back up by placing a check mark to the left.
    3. 3. Complete the Destination, Schedule and Options steps and then run the job.

    1. 1. First, make sure the VM’s hardware version is 22 (check under VM > Compatibility). Upgrade if needed.
    2. 2. Next, navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and then select Backup for VMware to open the backup wizard.
    3. 3. At the Source step, add one or two VMware VMs to back up by placing a check mark to the left of each VM.
    4. 4. Complete the backup job wizard, run the job, and make sure it is completed successfully.

    1. 1. Head to Data Protection, and click Recover > Flash boot for VMware.
    2. 2. At the Backup step, select the VM backup you just created.
    3. 2. Complete the Destination, Schedule and Options steps and then run the job.

    1. 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Replication for VMware to open the replication wizard.
    2. 2. At the Source step, select one or more VMs to replicate.
    3. 3. Complete the wizard steps: Destination, Networks, Re-IP and Schedule/Retention.
    4. 4. Finally, set up the replication job Options and run the job.
    5. 5. Upon completion of the job, power on the Replica VM and check if it is bootable.

    VMware VM replica failover

    1. 1. Head to Data Protection, and click Recover > Replication failover for VMware.
    2. 2. On the Source page of the Failover Job Wizard, select the source VMware VM(s) in the left pane and choose the recovery point you would like to revert the replica VM(s) to in the right pane.
    3. 3. Complete the wizard steps: Networks, Re-IP and Options.
    4. 4. Run the failover job.
    5. 5. Upon completion of the job, make sure the replica VM(s) is powered on and bootable.

    Test 3: OAuth 2.0 Secure Access

    Configuring Email Settings

    1. 1. In the web interface, navigate to Settings > General > Email Settings.
    2. 2. Under the Authentication method, select one of:
      • Google Gmail OAuth 2.0 authentication
      • Microsoft 365 OAuth authentication
      3. Based on your selection, fill in the required fields.
    3. 4. Configure the remaining standard fields:
      • Encryption type
      • From (sender email address)
      • To (recipient email address)
    4. 5. Click Send Test Email to verify that the settings are working.
    5. 6. Click Apply to save the settings.
    6. 7. Create a new backup job and complete the Source, Destination and Schedule steps.
    7. 8. On the Options page, go to Pre and Post Job Actions, enable Send job run reports to and enter the recipient email address.
    8. 9. Click Finish & Run to start the job.
    9. 10. After the job completes, make sure the report email is delivered and contains accurate job details.

    Test 4: Support of Image-Based Host Cluster for Real-Time Replication

    1. 1. In the web interface, navigate to Settings > Inventory.
    2. 2. Click the (+) button and select Virtual.
    3. 3. On the Type page, select VMware vCenter or ESXi host.
    4. 4. On the Options page, configure the vCenter server that manages an image-based ESXi host cluster and click Finish.
    5. 5. Navigate back to Settings > Nodes.
    6. 6. Click the (+) button and select Real-Time Replication Service to open the Setup Wizard.
    7. 7. On the I/O filter page, select the image-based ESXi host cluster.
    8. 8. On the Storage Policy page, select the VM(s) to which the storage policy will be applied.
    9. 9. Click Next > Finish to initiate the I/O filter installation.
    10. 10. Navigate to the Activities page.
    11. 11. Wait until the activity Setting up real-time replication service fails and the following error message appears: Manual remediation is required in vSphere Lifecycle Manager. After remediation, restart this activity. Learn more.
    12. 12. Head to the vSphere Client to perform the manual remediation.
    13. 13. Select the required cluster and open the Updates tab > Image, where you should see the Image Compliance warning.
    14. 14. Run remediation for each host in the cluster.

      Note: During remediation, hosts will be placed into maintenance mode.

    15. 15. After remediation is completed on all hosts, open the Configure tab of the cluster and navigate to I/O Filters.
    16. 16. Verify that nakfilter is present and that each host has an Active filter status.
    17. 17. Return to the NAKIVO interface > Activities and restart the Setting up real-time replication service activity to complete the installation.

    Test 4-1:
    Create a Real-Time Replication for VMware job.

    1. 1. Ensure the I/O Filter on the source host is installed and the Transporter (VMware vSphere appliance) is deployed on the target host/cluster. See Feature Requirements
    2. 2. On the Jobs dashboard, click (+) > Real-Time Replication for VMware to open the wizard.
    3. 3. Complete all wizard steps: Source, Destination, Network, Re-IP and Retention.
    4. 4. On the Options page, make sure the VMware vSphere appliance node is selected as the target transporter.
      • The Journal Service will be automatically installed on the Target transporter once the job runs.
    5. 5. Once you complete the wizard, click Save & Run to run the Real-Time Replication for VMware job.
    6. 6. Verify that the Real-Time Replication for VMware job is running successfully without errors or warnings and wait until an RPO value appears on the Virtual Machine widget.

    5. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

    • Participation in the Program is limited to one employee or authorized representative of a company.
    • You must use your business email address to download the Eligible Product, send the support bundle, and complete the survey.
    • You must submit the support bundle before the Program end date.
    • You must fill out the survey before the Program end date.
    • All questions in the survey must be answered.
    • The information provided in the survey must be correct and accurate.
    • You agree that a NAKIVO representative may contact you in order to clarify the information provided in the survey.

    6. eGIFT CARDS

    • Depending on the region, Eligible Participants may receive a $30 Amazon eGift Card or equivalent value €25 Amazon eGift Card, or a £25 Amazon eGift Card for each testing option.
    • Each Eligible Participant may receive up to three Amazon eGift Cards.
    • Amazon eGift Card(s) shall be sent to Eligible Participants who have completed all Program Requirements within two weeks from the Program End Date.
    • The number of Amazon eGift Cards available for this Program is limited to 100

    7. Information submitted

    You hereby grant NAKIVO and its affiliates an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual license to use your survey responses in connection with improving, marketing, and/or selling NAKIVO’s products. Except as otherwise set forth herein, use of the information submitted in the Survey is governed by NAKIVO’s Privacy Policy.

    8. MISCELLANEOUS

    In addition to the Terms, by participating in the Program, you agree that:

    • NAKIVO is not responsible for: registration errors, lost, late, or misdirected entries, or telecommunication or computer hardware or software failures in connection with your participation.
    • NAKIVO reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Program, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any factor beyond NAKIVO reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Program, as determined by NAKIVO. NAKIVO further reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or the administration of the Program.
    • NAKIVO reserves the right of refusal of any claim that, in the sole judgment of NAKIVO, does not meet the requirements or specifications outlined herein for Program eligibility and participation.
    • NAKIVO makes no warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact, or in law, relative to the Survey, or the use of the Amazon eGift Card including, without limitation, quality, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
    • Participants are solely responsible for any costs, expenses, taxes, and customs fees due in connection with the Amazon eGift Card, its delivery, and its use.
    • NAKIVO expressly disclaims any and all liability relating to the results of any of its marketing plans or programs.
    • This Program cannot be combined or cumulated with any other NAKIVO offers, promotions, campaigns, or sales programs if otherwise is not determined by NAKIVO.
    • The Program is subject to applicable laws and regulations and void where prohibited.
