NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.3 Beta Program Terms & Conditions
In seeking to improve NAKIVO Backup & Replication with every new version, NAKIVO relies on quality feedback from industry professionals. Try the software in your own environment and send your feedback to us. Participants of the v11.3 Beta Program can receive up to $180 in Amazon eGift Cards—$30 for each of the six eligible features tested.
By participating in this v11.3 Beta Program (the “Program”), you hereby agree to abide by General Program Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) available at www.nakivo.com/resources/releases/general-ear-terms/ and NAKIVO Privacy Policy available at https://www.nakivo.com/support/privacy-policy/ (the “Privacy Policy”). If you do not agree with the Terms, do not participate in the Program.
1. PROGRAM DURATION
Program duration: 2 weeks
2. ELIGIBLE PRODUCTS
The following product is eligible for the Program: NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.3 Beta.
3. ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
Anyone aged 18 or over is eligible to participate in the Program. A single employee or representative per company may be eligible. Eligibility will be determined by NAKIVO at its sole discretion.
4. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
How to Claim Your Amazon eGift Card(s)
- Test VMware to Proxmox VE Data Migration for a $30 Amazon eGift Card.
- Additionally, test Ransomware Detection for Backups for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
- Additionally, test HPE VM Essentials Support for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
- Additionally, test IBM AIX Support for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
- Additionally, test Microsoft 365 Backup and Recovery via Microsoft Graph API to earn an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
- Additionally, test Tenant Resource Allocation for Proxmox VE for an extra $30 Amazon eGift Card.
Important: The more features you test, the more you earn. Testing all six options will earn you a maximum total of $180 e-gift card(s) value.
Test 1: Microsoft Graph API support for Exchange Online
Note: In the v11.3 Beta build, Microsoft Graph API is used by default for Exchange Online backup and recovery. The purpose of this test is to verify that backup and recovery operations work correctly using the Microsoft Graph API.
Step 1. Microsoft 365 backup
- 1. Make sure your Microsoft 365 account with Exchange Online is added to the Inventory.
- 2. Create a Microsoft 365 backup job by clicking + in the Jobs menu and then selecting Backup for Microsoft 365. The New Backup Job Wizard for Microsoft 365 opens.
- 3. At the Sources step, add mailbox(es) for backup.
- 4. Complete the Destination, Schedule, Retention and Options steps, then click Finish & Run to run the job.
- 5. Make sure the initial backup completes successfully.
- 6. Add some data to the source mailbox (for example, send or receive a few emails) and run the backup job again to create an incremental recovery point.
- 7. Make sure the incremental backup completes successfully and includes the newly added data.
Step 2. Microsoft 365 Recovery
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection and click Recover > Object Recovery for Microsoft 365.
- 2. At the Backup step, select the Exchange Online backup you just created.
- 3. Select a single item to recover (for example, specific emails) and verify they are restored with their content intact.
- 4. Run a full recovery of the mailbox using the required recovery point.
- 5. Verify that the recovered mailbox data is complete and accessible.
Test 2: VMware to Proxmox VE Data Migration
Step 1. Back up VMware VMs
Note: Run this test for both a Windows VM and a Linux VM. If possible, use multi-disk VMs with UEFI/Secure Boot enabled.
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Backup for VMware to open the backup wizard.
- 2. At the Source step, select the VMware VM to back up.
- 3. At the Options step, set the transport mode to Hot Add and deploy a VA Transporter on the source ESXi host/cluster if needed. If Hot Add is not possible, proceed with Automatic and note this in your feedback.
- 4. Finish & Run the job and make sure the backup completes successfully.
Step 2. Add the Proxmox VE host to the Inventory
- 1. Navigate to Settings > Inventory and click + to add a new item.
- 2. On the Platform tab, select Virtual, then on the Type tab select Proxmox VE host or cluster.
- 3. Fill in the required fields and finish adding the host. Make sure it is discovered successfully.
Step 3. Run the Data Migration job
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > Full recovery for Proxmox VE.
- 2. At the Backups step, select the VMware VM backup you created earlier as the source. Note that both VMware VM backups and Proxmox VE VM backups can be selected here.
- 3. At the Destination step, choose the target Proxmox VE host from the Container drop-down, then select a Storage and a Network.
- 4. Complete the Options step and run the job.
- 5. Confirm the job completes successfully and the migrated VM appears on the Proxmox VE host.
- 6. Power on the migrated VM and verify that:
- The VM boots successfully.
- It has the correct number and size of disks.
- The network configuration is correct.
- The data inside the VM is intact.
- The guest OS is stable after a reboot and the required VirtIO drivers are handled correctly.
- 7. If your environment allows it, repeat the migration to a different storage type.
Test 3: HPE VM Essentials Support
Step 1. Add HPE VM Essentials to the Inventory
- 1. Navigate to Settings > Inventory and click (+) to add a new item.
- 2. On the Platform tab, select Virtual, then on the Type tab, select HPE Morpheus manager.
- 3. Make sure discovery completes successfully and the clusters, hosts and VMs appear in the inventory tree.
Step 2. Back up an HPE VM Essentials VM
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Backup for HPE Morpheus Software—VM essentials to open the backup wizard.
- 2. At the Source step, select an HPE VM Essentials VM to back up.
- 3. Complete the wizard and run the job.
- 4. Confirm it completes successfully with the correct backup size.
- 5. Add or remove some data on the source VM, then rerun the job to create an incremental recovery point and confirm it completes successfully.
Step 3. Full VM recovery
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > Full recovery for HPE Morpheus Software—VM essentials.
- 2. At the Backups step, select the VM backup you just created earlier as the source (use the latest recovery point).
- 3. At the Destination step, recover to the original location.
- 4. Complete the Options step and then run the job.
- 5. Power on the recovered VM and verify that:
- The VM is bootable.
- The data is correct (including the changes you made before the last backup).
- 6. Run another full recovery job to a custom location (use the latest recovery point).
- 7. Power on the recovered VM and confirm it is bootable and the data is intact, including the changes you made before the last backup.
Step 4. File Level Recovery
- 1. Navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > File Level Recovery.
- 2. At the Backups step of the wizard, select the HPE Morpheus Software—VM essentials backup you just created.
- 3. At the Files step, select some files from the backup to recover.
- 4. At the Options step, select Download to a browser.
- 5. Run the job and ensure it completes successfully, then transfer the downloaded files from your local computer back to the source machine.
Step 5. Verify object display
- Check that HPE VM Essentials objects and activities are displayed correctly on the Dashboard, in job reports and in alarms.
Test 4: Tenant Resource Allocation for Proxmox VE
Step 1. Set up the Master tenant
- Install NAKIVO Backup & Replication in Multi-Tenant mode.
- Add one or more Proxmox VE clusters/hosts to the Master Tenant inventory.
Step 2. Create a local tenant
- Log in to NAKIVO Backup & Replication as a Master Admin.
- Click Create New Tenant.
- In the popup, select New local tenant.
- At the Inventory step, assign the Proxmox VE VMs, hosts or clusters to it.
- Complete the tenant creation wizard and confirm that the tenant is created successfully.
- Log in to the local tenant and verify that only the assigned Proxmox VE resources are available.
Step 3. Replicate a Proxmox VE VM
- From the local tenant, navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select Replication for Proxmox VE to open the replication wizard.
- At the Source step, select one or more VMs to replicate.
- At the Destination step, select a different Proxmox VE host and complete the remaining job settings.
- Run the replication job and make sure it completes successfully.
- Add or remove data on the source VM and run the replication job again.
Step 4. Failover to the replica
- From the local tenant, navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > Replication failover for Proxmox VE.
- On the Source page of the Failover Job Wizard, select the source Proxmox VM(s) in the left pane and choose the recovery point you would like to revert the replica VM(s) to in the right pane.
- Complete the wizard steps: Networks, Re-IP and Options.
- Run the failover job.
- Upon completion of the job, make sure the replica VM(s) is powered on and bootable.
- Log in to the replica VM and verify that the changes made on the source VM are present on the replica.
Step 5. Failback to production
- From the local tenant, navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > Replication failback for Proxmox VE.
- On the Source page of the Failback Job Wizard, select one or more replica Proxmox VM(s) in the left pane.
- At the Destination step, choose whether to recover to the original location or a different location.
- Complete the wizard steps: Networks, Re-IP and Options.
- Run the failback job.
- Upon completion of the job, make sure the recovered VM powers on successfully and that the data is intact.
Note: Test replication, failover and failback using storage with snapshot-as-volume-chain enabled, and note the results in your feedback. If a job fails, disable snapshot-as-volume-chain and try again.
Test 5: IBM AIX Support
Step 1. Adding the IBM AIX machine to the Inventory
- In the web interface, navigate to Settings > Inventory and click + to add a new item.
- On the Platform tab, select Physical and click Next.
- On the Options tab, fill in all required fields and click Finish.
- Make sure the machine is discovered successfully.
Step 2. File-level backup
- Navigate to Data Protection, click (+) and select File level backup for physical machine to open the wizard.
- At the Source step, select the IBM AIX machine and specify the folders you want to back up.
- Complete the wizard, run the job and confirm the initial backup completes successfully.
- Add or change some data on the source machine, then run the job again to create an incremental recovery point.
- Make sure the incremental backup completes successfully and includes the newly added data.
Step 3. File-level recovery
- Navigate to Data Protection, and click Recover > File Level Recovery.
- At the Backups step of the wizard, select the IBM AIX backup you just created.
- At the Files step, select some folders from the backup to recover.
- At the Options step, test the following recovery options:
- Download to a browser.
- Recover to a custom location.
- Run the recovery job and verify that all items are recovered with their content intact.
Test 6: Ransomware Detection for Backups
Step 1. Add a new scan server
- Navigate to Settings > Ransomware > Scan Servers tab and click (+) to add.
- Add a new scan server and fill in the required information: Name, Platform (Microsoft Windows or Linux), IP, SSH port and credentials.
- Click Add to add your scan server to NAKIVO Backup & Replication.
Step 2. Auto-scan after Backup
- Go to Settings > Ransomware > Configuration.
- Select Automatically scan backups for ransomware.
- Enable Scan after backup to automatically scan after a backup or backup copy job runs successfully.
- Click Apply.
Step 3. Create and Run a Supported Job
- Create and run a backup job for a supported platform (VMware, VMware Cloud Director, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox, Amazon EC2, Windows and Linux physical machines).
- Wait until the backup completes successfully.
Step 4. Verify Scan Status
- After the backup completes, go to Activities.
- Confirm that the ransomware scan starts automatically and its status is Running.
- Wait for the scan to finish and verify that its status changes to Completed.
- If needed, open the activity to review the scan details.
Step 5. Run an On-Demand Ransomware Scan
- Navigate to Data Security > Threats and click Scan to open the Ransomware Detection for Backup Wizard.
- At the Source step, select the backup, choose Scan selected recovery point(s), and then select the recovery point(s) to scan.
- At the Options step, select the Scan Server to use for the ransomware scan.
- Click Run to start the scan.
Step 6. Verify the Scan Results
- Go to Data Security > Threats.
- Confirm that the scanned recovery point shows the expected status: Infected, No threats detected, Clean, or Not Scanned.
- Verify that the Summary bar, Scan Status, and Threats Summary widgets correctly reflect the scan results.
Important: Use your business email for all stages of the beta test. If you have any questions, contact the NAKIVO Support Team.
5. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
- Participation in the Program is limited to one employee or authorized representative of a company.
- You must use your business email address to download the Eligible Product, send the support bundle, and complete the survey. Free email domains (eg. @gmail.com, @proton.me, @yahoo.com) are subject to disqualification.
- You must submit the support bundle before the Program end date.
- You must fill out the survey before the Program end date.
- All questions in the survey must be answered.
- The information provided in the survey must be correct and accurate.
- You agree that a NAKIVO representative may contact you in order to clarify the information provided in the survey.
6. eGIFT CARDS
- Depending on the region, Eligible Participants may receive a $30 Amazon eGift Card or an equivalent value €25 Amazon eGift Card, or a £25 Amazon eGift Card for each testing option.
- Each Eligible Participant may receive up to six Amazon eGift Cards.
- Amazon eGift Card(s) shall be sent to Eligible Participants who have completed all Program Requirements within two weeks from the Program End Date.
- The number of Amazon eGift cards available for this Program is limited to 102.
7. Information submitted
You hereby grant NAKIVO and its affiliates an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual license to use your survey responses and support bundle data in connection with improving, marketing, and/or selling NAKIVO’s products. Except as otherwise set forth herein, use of the information submitted in the Survey is governed by NAKIVO’s Privacy Policy.
8. MISCELLANEOUS
In addition to the Terms, by participating in the Program, you agree that:
- NAKIVO is not responsible for: registration errors, lost, late, or misdirected entries, or telecommunication or computer hardware or software failures in connection with your participation.
- NAKIVO reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Program, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any factor beyond NAKIVO reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Program, as determined by NAKIVO. NAKIVO further reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or the administration of the Program.
- NAKIVO reserves the right of refusal of any claim that, in the sole judgment of NAKIVO, does not meet the requirements or specifications outlined herein for Program eligibility and participation.
- NAKIVO makes no warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact, or in law, relative to the Survey, or the use of the Amazon eGift Card including, without limitation, quality, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
- Participants are solely responsible for any costs, expenses, taxes, and customs fees due in connection with the Amazon eGift Card, its delivery, and its use.
- NAKIVO expressly disclaims any and all liability relating to the results of any of its marketing plans or programs.
- This Program cannot be combined or cumulated with any other NAKIVO offers, promotions, campaigns, or sales programs if otherwise is not determined by NAKIVO.
- The Program is subject to applicable laws and regulations and void where prohibited.
- NAKIVO reserves the sole right to revise or cancel the Program at any time, for any reason, and without further notice.
