NAKIVO Allows Insurance Broker to Back Up VMs within Minutes

Energo-Invest Broker S.A (EIB) is an insurance broker from Poland with IT infrastructure at two locations, one of which is a backup center. In the primary location, EIB maintains the production IT environment, consisting of mainly Hyper-V physical hosts and virtual machines that act as internal and external services. The second location houses Hyper-V hosts with a backup repository and the NAKIVO Backup & Replication Transporter. EIB’s goal was to mirror their IT infrastructure in the primary location to the second location in an automated manner.
Solution
NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides flexibility in terms of installation for EIB. The software can be installed on a variety of operating systems and devices, including Windows, Linux, and NAS devices, and deployed as a pre-configured virtual appliance. EIB decided to install the NAKIVO Backup & Replication Director on a QNAP NAS server. The initial full backup of the entire infrastructure was done in a few days, with incremental backups taking anywhere from a few minutes to an hour for the largest machines, ranging from 3 TB to 6 TB. The most time-consuming was the initial backup, due to the limited speed of the WAN connection. Subsequent backups were much faster, though. With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, EIB will make backups from their central repository to the backup center repository, then periodically recover all workloads from backups for testing purposes.
A great advantage of the solution for EIB is the ability to manage the software directly from a web browser, which allows the IT team to control the progress of scheduled tasks from any location. In addition, the web interface is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to manage and control all backup operations.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication is an excellent solution that provides VM backup and physical backup, as well as allows for making backup copies from one backup repository to another. Thanks to the Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) technology, VM backups are completed quickly, within minutes. Only changes are copied to the backup repository, making the backups faster and smaller. Compared to other backup solutions EIB has tested and used in the past, NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers a complete set of features to protect their entire virtual environment at an affordable price.
An additional advantage that NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides is support for tape libraries. That allowed EIB to make monthly backups to LTO6 tapes and, at the same time, enabled the company to meet the ISO 27001 standard for an information security policy.
