Integration with Amazon cloud has been designed to be very easy: you just enter Amazon credentials, a required amount of space, and click a single button. NAKIVO Backup & Replication will automatically create a new backup repository in the cloud. Integration with other clouds (such as Azure or Google) takes just a few more steps, and can be done in under 15 minutes. After the setup is complete, you can back up your VMware environment directly to the cloud and perform recoveries at any time and from anywhere.

Secure Data Storage

To ensure data security, you can enable AES 256 bit encryption while the data is in flight and at rest. Furthermore, you can specify a range of IP addresses from which the backup repository can be accessed, while all other requests will be blocked.

How VM Backup to Cloud Works for VMware

Integration with Amazon cloud is fully automated: NAKIVO Backup & Replication uses Amazon APIs to create an Amazon EC2 instance with a Transporter – the product component that performs actual backup and recovery. The product then automatically creates a backup repository using a number of Amazon EBS volumes that are connected to the Transporter machine.

To integrate with any other type of cloud, you just need to create a new Windows-based or Linux-based machine the cloud, install the Transporter on the machine, and create a new backup repository from the product’s UI.

When you create a VM backup job, you just need to select the backup repository created in the cloud as a destination for your VM backups. When the job is run, NAKIVO Backup & Replication reads the data in the source VMs and sends it to the Transporter in the cloud. If selected during the job creation, Network Acceleration can be used to speed up data transfer and the data can be encrypted at the source before it’s sent over the network. At the cloud, the Transporter writes data to the backup repository (which can also be encrypted).
