NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.5 – A New Version for Even Better VM Data Protection
NAKIVO is once again introducing a new and improved version of our flagship data protection software! This latest version with upgrades and improvements is now available for download. New features include support for vSphere 6.7, Advanced Bandwidth Throttling, Cross-Platform Recovery, and compatibility with two new storage devices. Meet NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.5!
VMware vSphere 6.7 Support
NAKIVO is continuously improving and adding new features to NAKIVO Backup & Replication, but we are also dedicated to ensuring compatibility with the latest updates rolled out by leading virtualization vendors. Therefore, NAKIVO Backup & Replication is among the first VM data protection solutions to offer support for the new VMware vSphere 6.7. Now, our customers can be sure that their upgraded virtualized environments are protected with NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.5.
Advanced Bandwidth Throttling
Those who have been using NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.4 should be familiar with Bandwidth Throttling – the feature that allows data transfer speed limits to be set for each individual job. In v7.5, the Bandwidth Throttling feature was further improved for greater convenience and flexibility.
From now on, users can not only set limits on a per-job basis, but also create global rules. Global rules are applied over specified time periods; the jobs that are run cannot exceed the global limit set. This way, for example, you can ensure that business-critical applications have enough bandwidth for proper operation while you are running backups during business hours.
Now, with the updated version of NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can forget about the inconveniences and pain points associated with using multiple virtualization platforms in production. Aside from traditional recovery from backups and replicas, you can recover VM data across platforms without being tied to a specific hypervisor.
With NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.5 and the new Cross-Platform Recovery feature, there is no need for multiple data protection solutions. Users can easily export virtual data from VMware and Hyper-V backups into VMDK, VHD, or VHDX formats for restoration on the host of their choice.
The feature can also be used for other data protection purposes. For example, with Cross-Platform Recovery, you can switch from one virtualization platform to another by migrating your VM data between them. The feature is also useful for the purposes of long-term archival of VM backup data. Export and save your virtual data in your desired format to make sure you can recover from the file even ten years from now with different virtualization software.
Support for EMC Data Domain Boost
NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7.5 now works seamlessly alongside EMC Data Domain Boost through integration with the BoostFS plugin. Dell EMC DD Boost devices are well-reputed for their source-side deduplication feature, which allows for backup size reduction at ratios of up to 17:1.
With ever-growing amounts of data, it is essential to optimize storage space consumption, strengthen data protection, and offload production networks. NAKIVO Backup & Replication and Dell EMC Data Domain can solve these challenges. While NAKIVO Backup & Replication takes care of your data protection routines, EMC DD Boost can increase backup speed by up to 50% and decrease the size of your backups by as much as 94%.
NETGEAR ReadyNAS-Based VM Backup Appliance
The list of supported NAS devices for direct installation of NAKIVO Backup & Replication is constantly growing. The previous version of the software introduced native installation packages for Asustor, QNAP, Synology, and Western Digital NAS servers. From now on, NAKIVO Backup & Replication can also be installed on NETGEAR ReadyNAS devices.
Uniting the strengths of two products – premium VM data protection software and a reliable NAS server by NETGEAR – creates a VM backup appliance with several benefits. NAKIVO Backup & Replication supports a wide variety of NETGEAR ReadyNAS devices, ranging from entry-level models to the top of the line. If you already own a ReadyNAS device in one of the supported configurations, you can easily turn it into a versatile VM data protection solution that features backup hardware, software, storage, built-in global data deduplication, and backup-to-cloud functionality.
