NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5.7 Beta with vSphere 6 Support is out, and you are welcome to join the Beta Program and try the product in your environment. All Beta Program participants completing the program requirements will receive an Amazon gift card!
Backup Encryption and vSphere 6 Support
The new v5.7 Beta provides the full support for the recently released VMware vSphere 6, including support for Virtual Volumes (vVols), VMware Virtual SAN (vSAN) 2.0, as well as support for other new features introduced in vSphere 6.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5.7 Beta also adds the Backup Repository Encryption feature. Now you can choose to encrypt the entire backup repository to ensure backup data security. While backup repository encryption may influence backup speed (as time and CPU resources are required to encrypt/decrypt data), it’s a tradeoff between security and performance. Backup Repository Encryption is available for Linux deployments of NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5.7. If the feature is enabled, the product will encrypt the repository destination (using encrypts for folders and crypt setup (crypt-md) in LUKS mode for devices/partitions) prior to creating the backup repository. If the encrypted backup repository is imported in another instance of the product, the encryption password will be required to import the repository.
Support for NFS Shares
NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5.7 Beta also introduces support for NFS shares. Now you can create a new backup repository directly on an NFS share, without having to mount it to the Transporter machine or expose it as a Windows share. This feature is available for Linux deployments of NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5.7.
